Sanjukta Mitra was born with an artist’s soul. Art in many different forms has been her purpose of life since the very beginning. She has always found joy in expressing herself through visual art, dance and music. Born and raised in India, she had an amazing opportunity to learn Kathak (one of the main traditional forms of dance in India) from the age of two and Hindustani classical music.
Her newest and all encompassing artistic pursuit is painting. She is a self-taught artist for most part of her life until very recently in the year 2021, when she quit her corporate job to take up art professionally. She has an insatiable hunger for knowledge and understanding. With the blessings of technology, she is on a continued rendezvous with from all over the world, as she is learning from several online fora.
Sanjukta’s artistic work notably incorporates realism and expressionism, vividly achieved through an abundance of mixed media and oil paints. Her work captures bold strokes, high contrast color schemes, glowing vibes and illuminating paints. She believes in capturing the moment & it is the emotional aesthetics that bring a soulful quality to her artistic oeuvre.
Spiritualism & humanity are Sanjukta’s most favorite subjects when it comes to artistic explorations. She mixes portraiture with deep metaphors to express spiritual paradoxes, inner journey and universal connectedness. One can witness the emphasis on the essence of spiritualism and inner healings in her work. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that there’s that extra layer of the introspective journey in all her works.
She is committed towards making an impactful difference to the world through art. Paintings that touch people deep within and transform them to being better humans, heal their pain, inspire them to achieve the possibilities in life, fill them with love and optimism are the painting she paints & wants to paint, relentlessly, as she races against time; while managing her house, her husband & her two beautiful daughters.
What started on the corner table in her bedroom has taken the form of an in-house private working studio in her basement that overlooks a beautifully inspiring lake. She truly feels the compulsion to share her passion and knowledge with people seeking art. She runs an art school with students starting at the age of 5 to 80 years old.
Sanjukta wants to dedicate rest of her life in gloriously painting inspiration, hope and joy that this world needs.
